National Cholesterol Month 2017
October was National Cholesterol Month.
Throughout October, Synexus sites across the UK took part in the 100-mile Great Cholesterol Challenge with Heart UK. The challenge consisted of walking, running, and cycling 100-miles to raise awareness of cholesterol as well as fundraise for Heart UK, who support individuals who suffer from cholesterol related health conditions.
The Midlands centre set up a treadmill in their clinic so that staff could take it in turns walking and jogging to reach their goal. Additionally, the team participated in lunch-walks and cycle-to-work which enabled them to surpass their 100-mile goal!
Merseyside completed a variety of walks including the Llanberis Path at Snowdon and the Gruffalo Spotters Trail in Delamere Forrest. The team almost tripled their 100-mile goal and raised £45.67 for Heart UK!
The Manchester team hired a cycling machine for their clinic and rode their way to an impressive 126-miles! Many of the staff also jogged and walked in their own time to contribute to the challenge and to keep fit.
Throughout October Synexus UK sites collaboratively completed over 800 miles and raised more than £150 for Heart UK. The challenge reached as far as sunny Spain, with a colleague from our Cardiff centre using their holidays to keep fit and contribute 12-miles running along the sandy shores. All of our sites took the challenge in their stride and had great fun taking part in each of the activities. Follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with any future campaigns!
